THE Totnes Reign clinched their first ever victory over Ashburton.

From the opening tip-off it was a testing, physical contest played at a high pace, with the lead changing hands throughout.

Going into the final quarter, Totnes were staring at a third consecutive defeat, but the Reign dug deep, found their rhythm and battled their way to the win. The final score at the buzzer was 39-32 to Totnes.

With little time to celebrate, the Reign headed into a second match of the week against the Torbay Tigers.

The Tigers were experienced and well organised and hoped to feed off a vocal home crowd.

Buoyed by their earlier victory, Totnes were not to be fazed and raced out to a 12-point lead early on. Torbay struggled to claw it back, and the gap only widened as the game closed out. A well-deserved second win for the town, 59-43 the final score.

Two great wins on the road, with a string of home games to come: the team are going from strength to strength.
