THERE were two men’s knockout cup clashes in the Totnes Skittles League, both catching up from the week prior.

The Woodpeckers tried to hold their own even with a double flopper from Paul Wakeham but with the Wizzards consistent scoring it wasn't to be, the Wizzards winning 481-455. Top scorers were Paul with 98 and Adam Stolworthy with 97.

Wrecks led from the off in their 464-447 victory over Offcuts. Les Harding scored 101 for the Offcuts and Paul Burrows with 93 for the Wrecks.

Onto the league action and there were a pair of walkovers, Woodpeckers over the Offcuts and Wrecks over TRFC.

One clash which did go ahead though was Bullets vs Millers, the former winning by just three pins. The Millers pulled back well after falling behind but couldn’t overcome the deficit, losing 463 to 460. Top scorers were Simon Prowse for Bullets with 99 and Steve Robinson for the Millers with 95.

Wasps tried to hold their own with a 70 end and a double flopper of 22 from Anthony Lugger and their eight spares with one being a 10 against the Fords’ 12 spares but couldn’t manage it, which meant another win from the Fords, 500-461. Top scorers were Paul Trant with 89 and Antony Lugger 94.

Moving over to the ladies’ fixtures and Odd Westons advanced beyond All Stars in the Castle Cup thanks to a 288-268 win.

All Stars held their own against the Odd Westons but they couldn't catch up against to their six spares when they only have one. Top scorers were Val Mcgall from Odd Westons with 89 and four spares and Marie Trant with 71.

In another hard-fought match, Alley Cats came out on top against the Gems by a very narrow margin, 277-271.

Gems were in the lead most of the game but Alley Cats clawed back pins on most ends to go in the last end on an even keel. It was all down to the last end with both team both scoring 246; Gems scored 25 on their last end with the Alley Cats scoring 31 and so they edged the win by six. Top scorers were Wendy Northway on 77 and Sara Neville on 79.

Meadowbrooks started off strong, but with the Diamonds having two ends of 43 and 47, they pulled ahead. The Meadowbrooks scored a 41 on the last end but it wasn't enough to take the win and the Diamonds shone brightly, winning by 10, 305-295. Top scores were Marion Feltham (83) for the Diamonds and Caitlyn Kneil with 79 for the Meadowbrooks.

The game between Outsiders and Fordetts was up and down between the two teams but with the Fordetts consistent scoring, they took the win by 9, 275 to 266. Top scores were Clare Good (72) for the Outsiders and Sarah Life with 76 for the Fordetts.

Missing from the previous week was the Panthers v the Wizzards- Wizzards won by 30 with Mark Northway from the Wizzards scoring an impressive 110 with five spares. Alan Hewings and Matthew Monaghan had 85 apiece for the Panthers. Wizzards had two high scoring ends of 67 and 76, which was the demise of the Panthers.
