IN this week’s Totnes Skittles League fixtures, Fords took the alley record in their 501-454 success over Woodpeckers.
Equally, with an impressive 106, Richard Murch achieved the top score so far- two brilliant scores to beat.
Dave Jackson for the Fords also scoring an 18-spare whilst the Woodpeckers tried to hold their own, P. Wakeham starting with an 18 and ending on 91.
Stu Hodsoll top-scored for the Offcuts with 90 but his side came up short, losing 458-440 to Wasps. E Pering top scored for Wasps with 93 and three spares, his side pouncing on lower-scoring ends from Offcuts.
Top score for Bullets in their 477-443 win over Panthers was Derek Wakeham with 90 and three spares. Panthers top scorer was their new player Chris Jones with 86 starting his game with a 16 and 17.
This game had a high-end from the Panthers scoring a 79 with four spares. This game between the two teams was very back and forth but the Bullets prevailed.
Top score for Wizzards was Mark Northway with three spares, scoring 86, and Keith Worth wasn’t far behind him with 83 and two spares, this duo helping them to a 458-430 success against Millers.
James Prout for the Millers scored 83 with three spares, with Owen Vooght having an unlucky 0. The Millers started off strong but with the Wizzards scoring a 62 end, the demise of the loss had started and Millers lost by 28.
Wrecks (442) vs TRFC (449) was a very up and down game but when TRFC scored a 67-end with two spares, the win was in sight. Top score for Wrecks was David Westaway with 85 and Tim Finch 83 for TRFC, this was a good win for TRFC especially as they are usually the underdog team.
Onto the ladies and Gems edged out Meadowbrooks by 307 to 299. The Gems top scorer was Wendy Northway was 88 with 3 spares while, for Meadowbrooks, the top score was Cherry Paul with 84 and 3 spares.
The game was up and down but it was the middle of the game that was the turning point, when Gems scored higher than the Meadowbrooks. Meadowbrroks tried to bring it back when they scored a 47-end but it wasn't enough to secure the win.
Odd Westons’ Val Mcgall scored 80 with two spares, with Ruth Binmore and Sara Halliday not far behind, both having two spares. Fordetts won by 24 though, 314-290, with Emily Stolworthy having four spares ending on 95, they also achieved a 55-end with three spares and an eight.
Diamonds (251) vs Alley Cats (283) wasn’t particularly high scoring, Ruby Hollett (U23) starting with a very unluckily 0 but then achieved the only spare for the Diamonds.
The Diamonds were chasing the tails of the Alley Cats but just couldn't catch them. Top score for the Diamonds was Sonia Edwards with 68, while for the Alley Cats, Sara Ellis had the top score with 77 and a 17-spare, Emma Saunders not far behind with 75 and two spares.
Finally, to Outsiders’ 305-260 win over All Stars. Top score for the Outsiders was Margaret Saxon with 79 and two spares followed closely behind by Clare Good with 78 and one spare. Marie Trant from the All Stars scored 74 with a 16-spare while Bella Trant (U23) scored 68 with two spares.
