ONE of a few titles recently on the line at Bigbury Golf Club was the men’s Warrilow Trophy, played as a pairs medal.

Simon Hill & Martin Kenny reigned victorious with a fantastic score of 58, narrowly ahead of James Bond & Gary Glasby (59) and then Peter Hamon & Steve Ryder (61).

Meanwhile, the Rosemary Coleman Cup, a recent ladies honours board competition was won by Mary Ayres with a nett 69, one ahead of Amanda Sinclair and Cherry Patterson.

The rearranged club championships were met by hard and fast running conditions combined with sloping fairways and a strong wind.

Phil Oxenham triumphed for the men with a gross score of 157 across 36 holes (77,80), followed closely by Jon Wiley (158) and Bill Rowell (160).

Dan Roman won the nett title with a 139 (70,69), fending off captain Tim Stacey (141) and Michael Handley (142).

Successfully defending her championship title for the ladies was Nikki Elliott who won with a score of 158 (78, 80).

Amanda Burchill, a previous multiple winner, was second (170) and Martha Massingham third (177). Not a surprising result given Nikki and Amanda are currently in the Devon Ladies squad and Martha in the Devon juniors team.

The winner of the Handicap Plate was Martha with a nett 145 (78, 67) and Rose Bowl winners for best nett scores in round one and round two, Karen Graddon and Vanessa Mabelle, respectively.

Lastly, the senior men also had their own 36-hole championship played over two days.

In its third year, the 2026 winner with a score of 155 (77, 78) was Roy Mitchell.

Keith Naylor was in second place (160) and Pete Cooper third (161). The nett winner was Pete Warley with 137 (63, 74), pursued by Keith Naylor (138) and Ronnie Moore (140).
