TOTNES Bowling Club’s ladies and men played in the Interleague competition on Saturday, June 13.
The competition is played as a round robin with two teams from Torquay, one from Newton Abbot and one from Totnes for the men.
Totnes won two of their three games and unfortunately, one of the Torquay sides prevailed overall.
The ladies had to play against two teams from Newton Abbot and one from Torquay.
They got underway by facing Newton Abbot B and Totnes led from start to finish, Jane Hingston high scoring in this win on 54.
Next up came Torquay A and after trailing at the end of the second leg, Totnes then moved into a five-pin lead and continued at a steady pace to win by 10. Sonia Edwards top-scored on 59.
Their last game was against Newton A and they needed to win this game to win the competition.
It was all even after three ends and then Newton Abbot went three up before taking a one-pin lead into the final end.
Newton posted 57 and 15-spares from Totnes duo Emma Challis and Caitlyn Knell proved decisive, pushing them to 68 on the final end and a seven-pin victory. This confirmed their overall victory.
In the individual competition, Caitlyn Kneil and Darren Lee both represented Totnes. Caitlyn won her first game by 10 against Margaret Saxon but fell in the next round and Darren Lee lost in the first round by eight against Barry Sharland.
