Further to the front page, I would like to add praise and thanks to Neil Cameron, head of outdoor education at Kingsbridge Community College, and his team who give up their time and expertise to teach the students the skills required for them to survive out on the moor, not only during the Ten Tors Challenge but in the harshest months of the year leading up to the challenge.
Neil and his team have given the students the grounding and ethos which enabled them to step up to the plate and help a younger, more vulnerable team in a very scary, difficult and potentially dangerous situation.
Yes, they were heroes on the day, going out of their way to help and support the stricken team not only until the emergency services arrived but until they knew the other team were safe.
Despite knowing that they had sacrificed their medals they wanted to continue the challenge and be able to say 'we may have lost out on time and forfeited our medals but we completed the 55-mile Ten Tors Challenge anyway knowing we made a difference'.
Neil and his team work so hard through the year and they helped create the characters that formed this team who can hold their heads high and be very proud of themselves and are amazing ambassadors for the college itself.
Well done to all the KCC and Horizons teams who took part this year and another massive
Thank you to Neil and his back up team who have made this possible.
