TWO women from Kingsbridge have won BASH Awards at a ceremony in Exeter last weekend.

The BASH Awards (be active, be safe, be healthy) celebrates the achievements of people with disabilities in Devon and is organised by Devon and Cornwall Police.

It is open to people with disabilities, their carers, family and friends.

The categories were Making Healthy Choices, Taking Up a New Sport or Activity, Learning and Achievement, Act of Bravery, Act of Kindness, Keep Safe Ambassador and Community Champion.

Janice Wannell was the winner in the Making Healthy Choices category for her outstanding achievement of losing three stone at her local Slimming World group in Kingsbridge.

And Georgina Chulk won the Act of Kindness award for her contribution of crochet blankets for the Syrian babies and children.

Janice and Georgina are supported by the local charity Kaleidoscope South Hams, based in Kingsbridge.
