Lifeworks has been selected by employees at Mondelez International in Crediton to receive a donation of £5,000.

Dedicated to providing vital services and events for young people with learning difficulties, the Totnes charity will be granted the substantial figure from The Cadbury Foundation, as part of its ‘Your Charity Your Choice’ scheme.

Lifeworks Charity delivers a wide range of programmes from youth clubs to short breaks for the people they work with. The charity has been developing its own holiday project, which will benefit significantly from this grant.

The Lifeworks Holiday Project will provide adventures during school holidays for young people with learning disabilities aged between 12 and 17, including sports activities, cookery classes, trips away and much more.

Each year, all Mondelez International UK employees are invited to nominate wellbeing-related charities or projects close to their hearts, with the final shortlisted charities up for vote amongst fellow colleagues.

Robert Whitehead, project development manager at the Ernest Jackson site in Crediton, nominated the charity to receive the bursary. Paul said: “Volunteering with Lifeworks has been the most humbling experience of my life. The children are all so grateful for the time we can give them, and I’m so proud that my colleagues voted for them to receive the £5,000.”

Laura Bambrey, fundraising officer at Lifeworks, said: “The Lifeworks Holiday Project isn’t about wanting the extraordinary. It’s about the opportunity for these young people to enjoy an ordinary teenage life. We’re so grateful for this incredible donation.”

The Cadbury Foundation was set up in 1935 in recognition of Richard and George Cadbury and their investment in the welfare of their employees and the local community.

Kelly Farrell, community affairs manager at Mondelez International, said: “We’re extremely proud to be able to support the charities that are important to our employees through our ‘Your Charity Your Choice’ scheme.

“Lifeworks not only looks to educate, but to entertain and excite the young people they work with. We’re delighted that with the grant from The Cadbury Foundation, it will be able to extend its great work.”
