PG Gooderham, of Higher Street, Dittisham, writes: Regarding the Dartmouth West Dart Development, town councillor Dave Cawley is quite right to emphasise the imperative question concerning employment for those who are to live on the new estate. Are all the present business parks fully occupied? A further important worry is the road transport links to the new estate. The present B road from Halwell will be swamped with lorries bringing thousands of tonnes of building materials along a long, twisting and narrow road, to the detriment of its condition. Already in the summer this road is not sufficient for the current traffic: it needs widening in many places right now. Dartmouth thrives on tourism, so will the great number of lorries put off the coaches that bring trade to the town? The whole project must be looked at carefully in regard to infrastructure.
