FAMILIES are still in the dark over the future of a specialist school for children with disabilities as its services remain suspended. Children's services at the Dame Hannah Rogers School in Ivybridge have been suspended for six weeks after the trust reported 'potential safeguarding' issues to Devon and Cornwall Police. On Wednesday the trust said it hoped to provide families with an update on the situation this week. However, the trust said it is still waiting for updates from the police and Ofsted before it is in a position to look at the future. Following investigations by the police, Ofsted and commissioners suspended children's services at the trust, including respite and residential places, until at least mid-September. To manage the ongoing investigations, the trust also took the decision to reduce temporarily the number of placements in its adult services. The decision taken by the trust to reduce the number of adult services placements will affect 15 young adults who access respite, in addition to the 12 young people who have been affected by the children's services suspension.
