Modbury Primary School pupils have made it through to the finals of the BBC Radio Devon ‘Star for Christmas’ choir competition.

The performed ‘Walking in the Air’ by Aled Jones, which was played n BBC Radio Devon on Tuesday, November 28, along with interviews with some of the pupils and members of the choir about Christmas.

The choir, led by Sarah Gill, a music teacher who isn’t employed by the school but who gives up her time to teach the children choir, are aged between seven- and eleven-years-old and sang with piano accompaniment from Jo Highley.

Modbury Primary are up against six other finalists from across Devon, three large schools and four smaller schools, and the winners will be chosen by voting from the public.

The winning choirs will have the opportunity to sing at the Christmas Service at Buckfast Abbey which will be broadcast on BBC Radio Devon on Christmas Day.
