Kingsbridge Community College held an insightful Careers and Higher Education fair this week, showing students the variety of local and national career paths available.

The main hall was packed with prospective employers and further education representatives, all eager to talk with the students and encourage them to consider a variety of options.

Lauren Tait, the Sixth Form Study Supervisor organised the event alongside Russell Back, to give the students an introduction into the variation of career paths available to them on a local and national scale.

Different year groups attended throughout the day from Year 9 to Year 13, allowing all students a unique chance to engage with prospective career paths.

They were given freedom to walk around the fair to engage and talk with a variety of representatives who could answer any questions they had about a specific job type, the qualifications needed or more about a specific career path.

Students eagerly approached employers to learn more about different career paths which hopefully inspired them to continue their research to plan their future after school.

With a variety of employers present, students were made aware of many opportunities available to them, not just university or college as many of the younger generation seemed to be leaning towards initially.

Representatives from the armed forces, the emergency services and hospitality companies were present, to assure the students that further education is not the only option available to them.

Miss Tait has explained that, “The Careers Fair gave students lots to think about, including University degrees, apprenticeships and the opportunity to ask lots of questions to employers and organisations.

“We hope the event helps students apply what they learn in the classroom to the outside world.

“The students were really interested in learning about careers they had never heard of before, and the event was a great success.”
