As we move towards the end of 2021, Totnes home care organisation, CareYourWay, continues to build on their annual scheme A Present for a Pensioner. With the community providing several welcome donations, including Totnes Cross Garage, Drew Marine Services, Beers LLP and many more, their scheme has seen an unprecedented number of contributions this year!
A Present for a Pensioner provides luxury hampers for those who would normally spend Christmas by themselves, pioneering a scheme to actively combat loneliness.
The Christmas event was commented on by local deputy-chief Inspector of the Care Quality Commission Deborah Ivanova stating: “The Christmas season can be a time of loneliness for vulnerable people. Reaching out to them with the annual “present for a pensioner” project is something to applaud. It is lovely to see such a wonderful project, letting those people trying to live an independent life know that they are not alone and there is a wider community out there ready to support and befriend them. This is something to commend.”
If you would like to further contribute to this year’s edition, please contact [email protected]. There are many ways to get involved - one of them includes a donation of any amount. A hamper generally costs around £30; however, any contribution changes lives this Christmas.
