After the stormy weather last night, we have received reports of power cuts throughout the South Hams.
Western Power Distribution (WPD) confirmed that there was a power cut in the early hours of the morning around Buckfastleigh, leaving 582 customers without power in the surrounding area.
The team managed to restore power to 506 homes within an hour, after a conductor fell down near Colston resulting in the loss of power.
However, at the moment 26 customers are still without power because the power supply cannot be switched to another conductor. WPD have said a team is on site now and they anticipate that it will be fixed by about one o’clock.
It was around 6.32am this morning that the power supplies failed this morning.
Four hours ago WPD tweeted that they were aware of a power cut in the Totnes, Newton Abbot and surrounding area. “We aim to restore all supplies by 09.30” WPD added.
