RNLI Salcombe worked closely with RNLI Torbay in freezing conditions, to rescue a scalloper last week.
The RNLI Salcombe all-weather lifeboat, Baltic Exchange III was launched at 6.45am on Tuesday, February 6, to assist the 12 metre scalloper which suffered engine failure six miles south east of Prawle Point.
RNLI Salcombe then towed the vessel towards Torbay, where the Torbay lifeboat crew had been called on by the HM Coastguard just after 9am to take over the towing of the vessel.
The Torbay relief lifeboat, Volunteer Spirit and her crew arrived on scene to meet with their Salcombe colleagues and attach a tow line to the fishing vessel. The vessel was then safely towed into Brixham Harbour, arriving at around 10.45am.
RNLI Torbay tweeted: “Pleased to have been involved on this ‘shout’ with our Salcombe colleagues yesterday.”
