Police area appealing for a second victim to come forward after a serious armed attack in Totnes High Street.

A man in his 20s suffered a number of serious head and facial injuries after the attack, which happened around midnight on Friday January 21.

Police believe there was a second victim who has not come forward.

They are asking for the victim and witnesses to contact them. In a detailed statement police say the victims had just left the Barrel House pub at the top of the High Street when a suspect allegedly "retrieved a weapon from a near-by vehicle and used this in the attack on the two victims."

The full statement from Devon and Cornwall Police says: "Between 11.50pm on Friday 21 January and 1am on Saturday 22 January, two people were attacked on the High Street on Totnes.

"It is alleged that the suspect retrieved a weapon from a near-by vehicle and used this in the attack on the two victims.

"One victim is a man in his 20s who sustained a number of serious facial and head injuries.

"We believe that a second person was also assaulted during the same incident but has yet to have contacted the police; the victims had just left the Barrel House Pub in Totnes prior to the attack.

"Police are appealing for witnesses and urge the second victim to come forward as they could hold evidence vital to the investigation.
