A 50-year-old man has died after collapsing in a field near Ivybridge.

Devon & Cornwall Police and the air ambulance were called just before 6pm on Wednesday, after the man was seen collapsed in the gateway of a field near Newlands Cross.

Officers controlled traffic while the air ambulance landed to attend to the man, who police said is from the local area. However medics pronounced him dead at the scene.

No cause of death has been given, although police said his death was not being treated as suspicious.

A file will be prepared ahead of a coroner’s inquest, and the man’s family has been informed.
