At the end of October a group of South Brent Judo Club’s higher grades competed at the Welsh Open, a notoriously difficult cadet and junior ranking event. The players rose to the challenge with some impressive results. Lewis Widdicombe (U81kg), Tom Smith (U50kg) and Cerys Callard (U40kg) all won gold. Libby Daymond (U57kg) won bronze as did Adam Whitfield (U73kg) and Kolya Schwinge (U66kg). Davy Grey (U55kg) fought well and finished just outside the medals.
Tom Ingram (U66kg) fought in the juniors and won a fantastic fifth in a high-calibre group from across the country.
On the same weekend Pierre Michelin (U66kg) went to Flanders with the England squad. Pierre enjoyed the very challenging competition and gained from the experience
