THIS week in the Totnes Skittles League, it was time for the Castle and Dart Cup competitions.

In the former, Diamonds tried to pull their game back against Fordetts but were unable to do so, losing 270-261. Sonia Edwards (D) scored 81 and Emily Stolworthy 85 (F), with two spares apiece.

Meadowbrooks notched 298 against Outsiders’ 280, Outsiders were leading the game up to end even when Emma Challis scored an 18, giving them a 6-pin lead, Caitlyn Knell then finishing the job. Top scores were Ann Robinson (three spares, 81) for the Meadowbrooks and Clare Good (two spares, 81) for the Outsiders.

All Stars had 279 to the 308 of Gems, Gems started off well and led from the front. Both of the U23s playing this game had an 18 spare: Georgie Northway (Gems) and Bella Trant (All Stars).

Alley Cats lost by just two pins, 270-268, to Odd Westons, even though Sara Ellis had two spares of a 10 and an 11 and ended the game with the highest score of 79.

Onto the Dart Cup and firstly, TRFC had a walkover against the Panthers.

Meanwhile, Off Cuts were edged out by Wizzards, losing 465 to 452. This game saw both teams scoring nine spares a piece with two of them being nines.

Woodpeckers 484 v Millers 470; Woodpeckers had 11 spares against the Millers’ nine, Woodpeckers achieved a 69 end with Kevin Jarvis scoring the only 100 this week with four spares. Owen Vooght for the Millers scored 84.

A high alley score from the Fords of 505 saw them past the Wrecks, who reached 445. Dave Jackson (Fords) scored the first double flopper of the week with a 22 and Paul Burrows (Wrecks) scored the second one with a 20. Paul Trant scored the highest score for the Fords with 94 and Fred Farleigh with 84 for the Wrecks.
