Plymouth Parkway 0,

Ivybridge Town will be looking to maintain consistency when they take on Elmore tomorrow at Erme Valley for a 3pm kick-off writes Tim Leigh.

After suffering disappointing results at Liskeard and St Austell recently, Ivybridge pulled out a superb performance to earn a thoroughly deserved victory against title favourites Plymouth Parkway at Parkway.

Town general manager Brian Howard described it as a brilliant result, and hailed the performance of every single member of his team. He said: 'It was one of those days were nobody had a bad game, everyone played well, but there were two stand-out performances.

Rocky Neal was awesome, scoring both our goals, and Josh Oak, who had a poor game against Austell, was just superb, stopping Parkway getting back in the game.

'This performance showed our worth, we showed we can compete with the best teams in this league, and now we need to push on.'

While bemoaning his side's luck against Liskeard and the refereeing decisions against Austell, Howard was also frustrated by what he described as an enforced winter break that has meant Town have not played at Erme Valley in 2014.

He said: 'We need to get our consistency back, but partly that comes with playing regularly.

'Against Liskeard we had about 80 per cent of the possession but just couldn't find the back of the net. The St Austell result flattered them, I felt. The sending off was harsh, and it was a double whammy after the penalty as well.

'We haven't played at home since December 14, so we will be doing everything in our power to get the game on tomorrow.'

Victory over Parkway moved the Bridgers up to second in the table and puts them right back in the mix. Tomorrow's opponents Elmore are currently in 16th place, and with just six points separating the top seven, every goal matters.

A healthy margin of victory would do Town the world of good, and Howard is very confident that they will be aided in their quest for goals by star striker Andrew Neal, despite the attentions of Plymouth Parkway.

Howard says Parkway made an approach for Neal last Saturday, just 24 hours after his brace had condemned them to defeat. He said: 'They made an approach for Rocky but he's certainly staying with us, and all credit to the boy as they're offering silly money.'

Neal certainly did put in an eye-catching performance against Parkway, opening his account after just three minutes when he used his pace to apply the finishing touch to Ben Smallridge's cross and give Town the lead.

Parkway threatened only intermittently, and when they did they found Bridgers' 'keeper Josh Oak in sensational form.

With just under 20 minutes to go, Parkway player Dan Hart incurred the wrath of the referee and was shown a red card.

Just a few minutes later the tie was settled when Neal doubled his tally with another smart finish to send Ivybridge back up the table.
