Dartmouth, hit by sickness and work commitments, couldn't travel to Torrington this weekend and not only gave Torrington five, valuable points, but were docked five, hard--worked, injury-hit, blood, sweat and tears points.
Dartmouth, currently rooted at the bottom of Devon One, will now have to either fight to stay in this league or give it all up and go back to Devon Two. Dartmouth know they're good enough to stay in Devon One, they have some quality players.
With just seven games gone Dartmouth have no points at all. The closest team to Dartmouth are Topsham and Topsham have eleven points, which shows how hard it's going to be for Dartmouth to climb out of trouble.
Dartmouth take on Totnes this Saturday at home with a 2.30pm kick-off. Coach Steve Atkins will desperately try and get enough players together for this local derby.
Totnes have twenty points and are just two points off second spot, so this game this weekend will be immense for Dartmouth and if Atkins can get enough willing, fit, hungry players, Dartmouth can turn this frustrating season around.
Dartmouth are always looking for willing rugby players that will not only play the beautiful game but most importantly turn up for training as well. Training takes place at BRNC every Thursday, 7-8pm.
If anyone would like to train and play for DRFC please contact Steve Atkins on [email protected]">[email protected].
Meanwhile, if any local person would like to give the Dartmouth rugby team a big boost this Saturday, please come along and, as they say, 'give it up for Dartmouth', cheer the lads on and be the sixteenth man.
Make no mistake, this game is the making or breaking of the season for Dartmouth. Barry French will be going around with the collection box, so please give generously.
