A gusty force three westerly and falling tide resulted in some casino racing to the first mark in Salcombe Yacht Club's second summer series race.
Race officer Andrew Squire sent the fleet to Blackstone followed by the classic journey through the Bag to Gerston and then a loop in the main estuary.
In the junior fleet Evie Booth in her RS Tera was once again victorious over the Topper of Ruari Mccoll and the Feva of George Alexander.
In the medium handicap fleet the Charlie Blazeby Laser radial was dominant ahead of another Laser, followed by Claire Booth RS Aero five.
In the fast handicap, four National 12s came to the line, however the Peter Cook and Janet Exelby in their Merlin Rocket showed a clean pair heels, with the Phantom of Alastair Morley just pipping the first National 12 of Simon and Karen Ballentine on handicap into third place.
Several of the Salcombe Solo hot shots were playing away at Weymouth and this left Peter Hammond in a strong position at the first race mark, Blackstone.
However, the casino dice were once again in action within the Bag and Phil King emerged first to remain unchallenged and finishing first across the line from Billy Jago, followed by Simon Yates.
In the yawl fleet there were only three entries and Frank Rowsell made a welcome appearance to take the winning bell.
On Sunday, June 21, there was a Father's Day pursuit race where the slower boats start first and the faster boats later.
The race was a very windy affair with a strong and gusty force four westerly together with a falling tide creating large waves in the estuary.
The Mirror of Martin and Tom Ley looked like being clear winners for much of the race, however the expertly sailed Laser Radial of Charlie Blazeby overtook near the finish to take victory from the Mirror, followed by the yawl of Dan and Harry Bridger.
