Last weekend was a thrilling opportunity for 10 judoka from the South Hams.
The players from South Brent Judo Club, Plymouth Judo club and Hoshi made the long journey to Kendal to take part in a three-day training camp as part of the England judo squad.
Tom Smith, Adam Vosper, Joshua Shipp, Davy Grey, Lewis Widdicombe, Tom Ingram, Kolya Schwinge and Cerys Callard from South Brent were joined by Jake Allen from Hoshi and Max Gregory from Plymouth Judo Club. They all had a fantastic, although exhausting, experience training with the best in England.
Living in shipping containers, the judoka enjoyed early morning runs, technical training and randori, on the London 2012 Olympic mats, ice baths and the infamous Barney rubble, otherwise known as weight-training with rocks. South Brent Judo Club wishes to say thanks to all the coaches who gave their time and expertise and also to the parents who, as always, gave their unswerving support.
