Devon Cricket League 1st XI premier division North Devon 236 all out, Cornwood 162 all out. North Devon (20 points) beat Cornwood (seven) by 74 runs

For the second week running Cornwood failed to capitalise on a good situation and allowed North Devon to reach a respectable 234 all out in the 49th over.  Batting first, North Devon made a positive start with opener Barney Huxtable keeping the run rate healthy. Opening bowler Byron Langley bowled a tidy first spell, but runs were coming from the other end and this forced Corns skipper Jason Hall to bring himself on earlier than he would have liked. This helped to put pressure on the N. Devon batsmen and forced some errors which the Cornwood fielders pounced on. After Huxtable went for 55, caught by Ben Warren off a mis-timed shot, the wickets started to fall fairly regularly. At 188-7,  Cornwood were hopeful of clearing up without too many more runs on the board, but Somerset player Jamie Overton had different thoughts and managed to hit a quick-fire 50 which helped the N.Devon innings recover respectability. Cornwood bowler Langley finished his 10-over spell with figures of 2-18, including five valuable maidens. He was supported well by Jason Hall 2-36 and Matt Skeemer 2-20.  In reply Cornwood failed to get near the N.Devon target. Opener Jackson Thompson looked set to achieve his first half century with some positive batting which got him to 47 before being caught off the bowling of Westaway. The Cornwood middle order dug-in for a while, but found it difficult to keep the runs ticking over, thanks to tight bowling from N.Devon.  When Overton came on to bowl he soon made an impact, picking up the wickets of Lambert and Warren, causing the middle order to wobble. Jason Hall offered some resistance with a dogged 27 before becoming another Overton victim. Overton went on to take five wickets for only 15 runs,  finishing off the Cornwood tail 74 runs short of target. Cornwood's second team had a better day, maintaining their grip on top spot in the second XI A division with a convincing win over Plymstock. Cornwood batted first and posted 251-4 thanks to 81 from Rickard and 73 from Boase, before bowling Plymstock out for just 117, Smith picking up three wickets. The thirds also picked up a victory and 22 league points against Braunton in the second XI B division.
