A mixed week for South Hams Indoor Bowls Club – on November 15 the men met Kingsley in the Denny Plate, two rinks at home, two rinks away.

At home, rink A with John Fowler, Tony Dore, John Brothers and skip Ron Welham had a very close match but held on to win by 19 shots to 18.

Rink B comprising Frank Senft, John Sims, David Sherlock with skip Barry Geldard had a resounding win by 21 shots to 14.

At Kingsley, rink A with Mike Mitchel­more, David Fox, Ron Elson and skip Richard Kerswell trailed all the way to lose by 12 shots to 18. Rink B with Wilf Hutchins, Eric Willi­ams, Peter Caddy and skip John Harding went down by 10 shots to 26. The club are thus eliminated from this competition.

On November 14, Sir Francis Drake were the guests in a mixed friendly. Rink one with David Fox, David Weale, Tim Lewis and skip Bill McKimm won comfortably by 23 shots to 13. Rink two with Miles Grindrod, Val Harding, John Sherrard and skip John Harding won equally well by 25 shots to 10.

Rink three with Don Havis, Shirley O'Leary, Charlie Dunton and skip Geoff Bulbulian went down by 15 shots to 24. Rink four with Tony Davies, George Brown, Anita Elliot with skip John Fowler won a close encounter by 19 shots to 14. A win for the South Hams by 82 shots to 61.

The ladies met Kingsbridge Park ladies in a two-rink friendly on November 14, rink A with Dot Lyon, Shir­ley O'Leary with skip Lesley Crutchley lost by seven shots to 17.

Rink B with Sylvia Williams, Val Ruddle and skip Maureen Geatches won well by 21 shots to 10.

Overall a win for the South Hams by 28 shots to 27.
