IT HAS been a busy summer of knockout competitions at Bigbury Golf Club.

The men’s scratch KO was an all-family affair with Ryan Moore (+3 handicap) just winning a tight match over 36 holes on the last hole against his father-in-law Rob Joint.

Ryan has had a successful season at Bigbury including a stunning round back in early summer of 63 (-7), finishing with 5 consecutive birdies.

The handicap KO, the Westlake Trophy, was won by Simon Hill as he beat Paul Zimmerman in the 36-hole final. The senior’s summer KO was contested by two very consistent members, Jason Holtom and Keith Naylor, with Jason securing victory this time by 4&3.

Meanwhile, the ladies’ premier KO the May Rose Bowl was won by Jane Rickman beating Angie Newman in the final.

The Challenge Cup KO saw Sarah West overcome Amanda Burchill whilst husband-and-wife duo Crispin and Juliet Manners won the mixed Coleman Centenary Flame KO against Keith and Eve Naylor.

Moving on and the recent Sanders Cup, contested by the current and past ladies captains, was won by Sarah West with a fine 38 points. Sarah beat current captain Helen Bertram (33 points) with Lorette Logie in third via countback.

The Ladies Secretary's Cup saw a runaway victory for Diane Clasby with the great score of 48 points, Jane Cooke was a distant second with 40 points, a score that would normally win most competitions, with Kim Flook in third with 38 points.

A recent men’s Stableford saw a win in Division One for Paul Newman (43 points) with Michael Handley in second (41 points).

Division Two was won by Mark Vinecombe with an outstanding 46 points despite a seven on the first hole! Second was Jordan Pryke with 40 points and the gross winner was Ryan Moore, not for the first time this season, with 37 gross points.
