Spurs 3,
ALLINGTON lost this game in a lacklustre first half.
They started brightly but were stunned when the referee awarded the home side a penalty which even surprised Spurs.
There seemed to be no contact as Justin Denning challenged for a high ball at the far post, but they gratefully accepted the gift to take the lead.
Allington hit back to equalise when James Ivatts headed home from a Jon Davis free kick.
This was undone when Allington got complacent playing the ball square across the box; a home striker intercepted and fired home for Newton to regain the lead.
Not learning from their mistake, Ally repeated it again, but this time the striker shot wide.
Nevertheless, Ally did the exact same thing for a third time and this time they were punished with a third goal.
In the second half Allington knew they had to up their game and this they did as they dominated for long spells.
They had enough chances to get back in the game and even win it, but it wasn’t to be.
A Ben White corner saw Fred Massey meet the ball at the far post but he pulled his shot across goal and wide of the post.
He then blazed over with another chance, as did Tom Harvey, who then came even closer when after a goalmouth melee he had a shot from three yards blocked on the line by a defender.
Harvey then did have the ball in the net with a great finish but was harshly ruled offside.
At the most he seemed level with play but it was those costly mistakes in the first half that cost the away side the game.
This week Allington are at home to Kingskerswell and Chelston, a 2.30pm kick-off. The reserves travel to Dittisham for a 2.30pm kick-off.
