WBW SDFL Premier Division
East Allington 1,
Buckland Athletic Reserves 3
East Allington came up short in the first game on their new pitch.
The early exchanges were very much even, but then a visiting midfielder tried his luck from 40 yards – his wind-assisted shot flew into the top corner.
Moments later Allington lost new signing Lee Morgan to what later proved to be ankle ligament damage, which will keep him out for a number of weeks.
After making changes, Allington settled and began to push for an equaliser. Tom Rowden, who was pushed further forward, had a shot charged down by a defender.
Buckland started the second half the better team and doubled their lead when a right-wing cross was turned in.
Allington came storming back and reduced the arrears when a short corner by Rowden and Andy Davis saw the latter’s cross being headed home by Ben Robey.
With minutes left, the visitors were awarded a penalty, from which they scored, denying Allington any chance of a deserved share of the points.
The team travels to Kingsteignton tomorrow. Players meet at 12.45pm for a 2.30pm kick-off.
