Petroc 1 Division

Dartmouth 1,

Torbay 3

Going to form, Torbay's experience and skill overcame a passionate Dartmouth display in a game that was significantly closer than the scoreboard suggests.

With a full squad available, Dartmouth had plenty of options which they used well by attacking at pace and defending steadfastly.

That said, the opening goal took all by surprise when a deflected hit went in off a defender for an early Torbay goal.

Dartmouth fought back with vigour and Jaz Harvey worked well on the left with Di Bradley to supply good ball for Lucy Pillar in attack.

There was more of the same on the right as Jamie Rendle linked up with Sam Webb, but the final passes in the Torbay 23m area just did not connect when it mattered.

Torbay's second came from a fast breaking counter attack ending with an unstoppable goal to make it two by half time.

A fired up Dartmouth came out of the blocks quickly in the second half and scored within minutes as Di Bradley received a strong pass in from Lucy Pillar, making no mistake from close range.

With their backs up, Dartmouth pursued an equaliser with Alix Vincent causing trouble in the Torbay defence, but all finishing attempts were subdued.

Pressure told as green cards were issued on both sides when things got a little feisty, but it made for an exciting finish.

Dartmouth's defence worked hard all day, with player of the match Jo Rendle leading by example, but Torbay finally secured the points from a short corner rebound.
