STOKE Fleming Bowlers travelled to top of the table Abbrook Park on Saturday, July 5.

The home match, earlier in the year, was a tough one which saw Abbrook take maximum points.

Liz Mallyon was the only lady playing here, where she played at number one for Andy Pound. His four had an excellent win with the team performing well.

Mike Hynes rink had a battle on their hands with the score close throughout but a six on the 20th end sealed the win in his favour.

Simon Bennett's four had to contend with consistently long jacks, Abbrook dealing with them the better.

Captain Paul Lobb decided to play Nick Mathias at three to himself as he has been showing real potential since joining the club earlier this year. It turned out to be a very tough encounter and although they lost heavily, Nick coped well and will have learnt from it.

Stoke secured four hard-earned points.
