STOKE Gabriel & Torbay Police are continuing to enjoy a strong run of form since the return of popular manager Sam Biscoe.
Their last four games have all been away from Broadley Lane and yet all four have ended in victory.
Not only are they winning plenty but they’re scoring plenty, notching 15 times in that four-fixture run.
Exwick Sports Hub was Stoke’s latest destination where they crossed paths with the University of Exeter.
Dangerous Tom Burt and Saul Vanes were in the starting XI following their respective moves back from Newton Abbot Spurs with Biscoe also utilising the experienced Lewis Perring, a Bovey Tracey AFC stalwart.
Vanes set up the opener for the Bees, man of the match Ryan O’Callaghan meeting his cross and heading home.
After the university side equalised, Vanes came to the fore once more, this time assisting Cole Harford.
Jacob Osborne, another former Spurs man, then came off the bench to seal the three points in some pretty horrible conditions.
Speaking after the game on Stoke’s social media channels, manager Biscoe said: “What an outstanding performance from the whole squad today!
“From Lloyd in goal to every player on the bench who came on and made a fantastic contribution, I couldn’t be prouder of the lads and the effort they put in.
“The weather conditions were certainly against us, but we also faced a very strong Exeter Uni side.
Credit where it’s due – Exeter Uni are a brilliant footballing team and probably the best side I’ve seen at this level in the last five years. They played some excellent football, so well done to them, and we wish them all the best for the rest of the season.”
Stoke now have a grudge match against Spurs tomorrow night (Tues 27) before heading to Crediton United on Saturday, October 31.
