Organisers are gearing up for another bumper year at the Kingsbridge Show, which returns with a mix of traditional favourites and new attractions.

This year’s chairman is local poultry farmer Helen Reeve, a familiar face at the show after several years as chief steward of the floral art section. With Helen's strong farming connections, she has chosen the Royal Agricultural Benevolent Institution (RABI) as her charity of the year.

RABI has been represented at the show for many years by John Yeoman on the NFU stand.

RABI supports farmers who seek to put up their muddy boots and retire, as well as assisting younger farmers seeking a career in agriculture.

The horse section of the show promises a full programme, from in-hand to ridden hacks and hunters, show jumping, and the ever-popular Pony Club games later in the day.

Crowd-pleasers South Hams Vintage Machinery will return with their display and parade of tractors, alongside static exhibits.

These enthusiasts never fail to support the Show and are always appreciated by the crowds.

The main ring attraction for 2025 will be The BMX Show, bringing high-energy stunts to the arena.

Also drawing plenty of cheers, the terrier racing will award rosettes for first, second and third place in each race, as the dogs chase the scent across the ring.

Motoring enthusiasts can enjoy a classic car display from the Devon Midget Car Club and The Axle Tramps Club, positioned near the showground entrance.

Competitions in sheep, homecraft, horticulture and arable classes will be fiercely contested, while children’s arts and crafts continue to attract strong entries. Organisers are hoping for even more scarecrows in this year’s ‘Farming Character’ themed contest.

The large marquee at the bottom of the main field will host craft stalls and a Food & Drink Hall, with the family area outside offering a bouncy castle and amusements. Commercial trade exhibitors will be on hand throughout the day.

In the Country Scene area, visitors can watch demonstrations from the South Hams Spinners, The Weaving Group, and, new for this year, blacksmith Richard Bent, showcasing traditional rural skills.

The music tent at this year's show will be buzzing with talented live acts from around the region. A hand-picked crop of some of our best local bands will take the stage. Visitors can relax on our hay bale seats and dance to funky blues, soul, jazz, pop and more while grabbing a beer and a burger from the nearby food stalls and bar.

Line-up:

  • Noon – Ben Carr: funky rocking blues
  • 1.15pm – Fiona’s Fancy Feet: dance display
  • 2pm – Louise Parker: jazz, soul and reggae
  • 3.30pm – A Little Mischief: high-energy six-piece covers band

The entertainment runs from midday and is included in the all-day ticket. Advance tickets, including a new family package, are available at www.kingsbridgeshow.co.uk.
