A R Brooking Transport has been part of village life since 2012, when we first began offering general haulage from our base in Loddiswell. Over the years, we’ve worked with a wide range of people and businesses, providing transport both locally and across the UK. Much of our work comes from long-standing relationships with local firms, and we’ve always taken a straightforward approach: do the job well, keep communication clear, and be reliable.

Because we live and work here too, we understand the needs of the area and the people who call it home. Many of our customers are small, independent businesses, and it’s been important to us to support them wherever we can — whether that’s a one-off delivery or regular haulage throughout the year. We’ve never believed that a job has to be big to matter; if it’s important to you, it’s important to us.

In 2023, we added a self-drive van and car hire service to what we do. This came about partly because people in the village and surrounding area often asked if we had a vehicle they could borrow for a move, a collection, or a work job. Now we’re able to offer a fleet of fully insured vehicles for both short- and long-term hire, suitable for domestic or commercial use. The aim is simply to give people a practical option close to home without the fuss of travelling out of the area.

Our vans are regularly maintained, and we’re always happy to talk through what might suit your needs. Some customers hire for a weekend of DIY, others for business deliveries, and some just need a bit more space than their own vehicle can manage. Whatever the reason, we try to keep the process as straightforward as possible, with flexible collection and drop off and a friendly, simple service.
