Harry Kerswell, of Bear-scombe, Kingsbridge, writes: May I respond to David Raeburn's plea to try to persuade those in authority to rename the proposed new town near Brixton. I mentioned this at the Parish Council many times a few years ago, but it fell on stony ground. Surely common sense should prevail, as we already have a Sherford under the South Hams District Council. I live in the adjacent parish and a lot of commuter traffic travels the by-roads, which are not suitable for heavy goods, but large lorries can have difficulty when guided by satnav. Recently I came to the rescue of one of these before he got in deeper trouble and escorted him away to better roads. By having two villages with the same name in the South Hams it is encouraging misleading information, be it human or satnav, which sends lorries to the wrong place.
