Rosemary Taylor, of Waterhead Close, Kingswear, writes:

I was shocked and appalled to have sight of a letter signed by up to 30 Kingswear residents, claiming to represent the ‘majority residents’.

It suggests that three named members of the parish council have been acting out of self-interest on parish matters and are deemed not fit to vote on further matters pending a proposed election.

The whole situation has arisen as a result of differences of opinion over the playground proposal at Waterhead Creek but has become deeply personal and downright nasty.

If the council bows to this type of pressure, we will be going down the route of dictatorship not democracy.

I hope the parish council will treat the residents’ letter with the contempt it deserves, give full support to their fellow councillors and stop this insidious rot that is threatening to overwhelm our village.
