Pat Harding, collections coordinator for the Samaritans of South Devon, Warren Road, Torquay, writes: On September 12, the Samaritans of South Devon collected £228.74 during a street collection made in Dartmouth Town Centre, with a further £320.03 being collected at Sainsbury's in Dartmouth on the same day. We should like to thank the good people of Dartmouth who made this possible. All this money will go towards the money needed each year to keep the lines of communication open to the many people of South Devon who call upon the local Samaritans in times of trouble and distress. Many thousands of pounds are needed each and every year to keep the South Devon branch open and also to train the volunteers needed to answer the calls.
