SOUTH Hams artist and surfer Steve Broad is auctioning one of his paintings to raise money for a cancer charity.

Mr Broad, whose wife is in remission from cancer, has advertised his auction on the Bantham Surfing Community Facebook page. So far the highest bid he has attracted is £300.

In an email to this paper, Mr Broad, from Aveton Gifford, said: ’Here is a photo of the artwork I have offered to gain as much as possible for the Stand Up to Cancer appeal.

’I paint Bantham when not surfing it and as my wife is happily in remission I thought why not see if the power of Facebook can raise a few quid.

’The response has been awesome so far but I’m greedy so bouncing the post to as many Bantham lovers as possible. It seems only natural to approach you guys to help.

The auction closes on Monday at midnight.
