I urge people to visit the excellent exhibition of art currently in the Flavel, put on by GCSE students from Dartmouth Academy. The range of talent is astonishing.

Nicola Perrott, head of art at the academy, has made it one of the highest-achieving art departments in the country and this exhibition demonstrates why.

Having just visited the Royal Academy’s Summer Exhibition in London, which reflects art from all over Britain, the wide range of creativity, use of ­different materials and skill demonstrated by the Dart-mouth Academy students rivals the best talent in the country. They all deserve A*.
