On behalf of the members and supporters Kingsbridge Rugby Football Club, I would like to congratulate the players, coaches, team managers and officials on the promotion of the first team and the success of all the other teams this season. It has been a remarkable year.

I would like to thank in ­particular all those behind the scenes, without whom a match cannot be played.

Starting at ‘grass roots’ is Mike Shute and his helpers, who make the pitch playable; Patrick Robinson, who organises the fixtures and referees; Brian Lowe and his team on the gate; Anton Rundell and John Moore MCSP, who keep the players safe from injury and heal them when necessary; Linda Cope, who does 50-50 raffles to raise money for the club; Liz Turner and her band of bar staff and chefs have kept everyone well fed and watered and gained many compliments from our visitors; and finally the spectators, who pay to come in and sometimes offer free advice to the referees.

Well done KRFC – you are a credit to the town.
