On Friday, February 24, 80 people attended a quiz at Bigbury Memorial Hall in aid of Macmillan Cancer Care.
Every year Macmillan Cancer Support organises pub and village hall quizzes, and last year earned a place in the Guinness Book of Records for running more than 100 quizzes around the country on the same evening.
This year more than 340 events took place.
The village hall had as many teams competing as could be accommodated and the team which won was the Shackers in first place.
A number of local businesses and restaurants had kindly donated prizes for the raffle.
Apart from having an evening of fun, the aim was to raise money for the charity. The evening raised in excess of £1,400 through ticket and raffle sales, and the money will be used by Macmillan in the South Devon area.
Fiona Dukes, who organised the evening said: “Thanks are due to all those who worked hard to make the evening a success and to those who provided prizes and donations.”
