DAVID BRYANT, of Faulkner Close, Townstal, Dartmouth, writes: Five or six years ago I wrote to you saying how much we needed a swimming pool in Dartmouth, and we are still waiting. Buck up, South Hams Council, don't keep us at the bottom all the time. Living by the sea, our children need a pool. A lot of families do not have cars to go to Totnes or Kingsbridge. We also need a pool for all ages and people getting over illness being referred by their doctors. It's been going on too long. I was 10 years old and used to go out with my dad, Jack Stone, to collect a shilling a week on a card. I am now a pensioner and would like to see it happen. A lot of people have worked hard through the years – not only that, the price is going up and up. Look how well The Flavel has done despite opposition, and a pool will bring money and people to our town. We need it. Myself and many others learnt to swim in the Boat Float and Double Steps was cleaner then.
