Gary Edgecombe, of Camperdown Road, Salcombe, writes:
Julia Crear takes it upon her uninformed self to comment on our local parking, Gazette, November 13.
Er… if vehicles cannot park on our pavements, then they cannot unload. The alternative is a tailback right back down the road to the roundabout.
Is she suggesting this to be preferable?
An 8am curfew is also a nonsense – any professional driver will tell you that traffic conditions usually prevent a scheduled delivery.
On arrival at Kingsbridge, Salcombe or Totnes, a delivery driver’s only option is to mount a pavement to unload or shut down the traffic by stopping in the middle of the road, as proposed by Ms Crear.
I can only speak for myself having worked as a multi-drop van driver, but Ms Crear strikes me as ill-informed.
She’s ‘urging MPs’, is she? She should mind her own business.
