A community organisation event held at the weekend was designed to link local organisations together.

‘Our Kingsbridge Matters’ was organised by Lawrence Townsend to bring local community organisations together to help the people of Kingsbridge and the surrounding areas.

Lawrence said: “We have a terrific town, an invigorating environment, lovely landscapes and curious coastline and some exceptionally purposeful people amongst us, some of whom I had the pleasure of meeting in our market hall last Thursday, Friday and Saturday, at our exhibition.

“Unfortunately, we were not ‘rushed off our feet’ so to speak, however, all our nine exhibitors said the event was certainly worthwhile - ‘from little acorns grow mighty oak trees’.

“I witnessed a tremendous reward, regarding the ‘try praying’ initiative exhibit. On Thursday afternoon I prayed with an ageing lady in our community, Saturday early afternoon our prayer was answered positively.

“Here in Kingsbridge we have so many treasures in and around us, we must not let these become threatened through lack of Government support, we can and will keep our town and local environment thriving.”?He said that a lot of organisations wished to take part, but struggled with getting volunteers to man stalls.

Lawrence added: “I support and applaud Dr James Mottram’s SHAW initiative [South Hams Area Wellbeing], the evening Friday, April 20, to which I was invited, at the Crabshell, which was very well represented.

“We’re here to help each other”.

Our Kingsbridge Matters is planned to be an annual event.

Another community project that Lawrence is working on requires the use of a garden roller, if you have one that he could borrow, call him on 01548 856206.
