Youngsters have completed their four-school 'Olympic torch' challenge as they hiked the 12 miles from the centre of Dartmouth to East Allington.
The pupils were from the Our School Federation of primary schools at Kingswear, Stoke Fleming, Blackawton and East Allington.
The youngsters met at bandstand in Royal Avenue Gardens, Dartmouth, before setting off at 9am and following the coast path to Stoke Fleming Primary School.
After a brief rest stop and much-needed iced lollies, the children then followed lanes and green lanes to Blackawton Primary School. From Blackawton they covered the three miles to East Allington Primary School, arriving just after 4pm.
Every child was presented with a certificate and 'Olympic torch' memento.
Executive headteacher Michael Rolls and Kingswear headteacher Mark Oakshott said all the children, teachers and parents performed brilliantly on the day by working together and keeping everyone going.
They added: 'We are really proud of all our Year 6 in the Our School Federation.
'To complete a 12-mile walk in challenging conditions is a real achievement. They have all worked incredibly hard this year academically, so it was nice to see a real physical challenge. It never ceases to amaze us how talented our children are. Our thanks go out to everyone who made the event such a success.'
The challenge was one part of a menu of activities taking place over the summer term to celebrate the Olympics. It is also destined to become an annual event.
The children were sponsored for the event and all money raised will go towards providing activities across'
