KINGSBRIDGE welcomed the Olympic torches from the Beijing and Vancouver games last week.

Inspirational people from around the UK will, next year, carry the Olympic flame as it journeys across the UK.

Nominated by someone they know, it will be their moment to shine, inspiring millions of people watching in the UK and worldwide.

For 70 days, between May 19 and July 27, the Olympic 2012 torch will be carried across Great Britain.

Nominations for torch bearers have now closed, but Coca Cola in partnership with Tone Leisure gave visitors and students a chance to get the feeling of being an Olympic Torch Bearer themselves.

Coca Cola, as one of the 2012 Olympic partners, brought the Beijing torch from the 2008 Olympics and the Vancouver torch of the 2010 Olympics to Quayside Leisure Centre.

Tone invited their members and members of the public to come along and take pictures of themselves with these iconic items when they arrived.

The sporting stars of the future, mostly students from Kingsbridge Community College, also got the chance to hold the torches for themselves.
