HILARY JARRETT, of Kenwith Drive, Kingsbridge, writes:

As a carer who has used the excellent day care facilities at Tumbly Hill, Kingsbridge, as respite for my husband, who has dementia, thank you for last week's front page story on the 'consultation' about its possible closure.

The decision to close the day care centre seems to have been made already by the county council.

Perhaps the council should make some savings – undoubtedly needed – by dismissing those who proposed the non-existent alternative at Kingsteignton.

What nonsense, even if such a service did exist.

Let us hope that they will realise, as indicated at the meeting, that this area has no alternative to Tumbly Hill - memory cafe and lunch club not withstanding – in social contact, physicial activities, love and care.
