Tony Britton, of Beechwood Drive, Kingsbridge, writes:
The facilities for disabled people in Kingsbridge are atrocious. There are many older people needing help with their mobility who have to use aids such as mobility scooters, wheelchairs, walking sticks, crutches etc.
There is hardly a shop or office in town that is easily accessible because they have steps, never a slope; there are pavements with no way off them; and even the new recreation park is difficult on one side as it is all steps, with no access for the disabled.
I always thought there were by-laws for assisting disabled people, or am I wrong? If the council would like my help in pinpointing the many black spots, please give me a call – although I won’t hold my breath waiting.
