The facilities for disabled people in Kingsbridge are ­atrocious. There are many older people needing help with their mobility who have to use aids such as mobility scooters, wheelchairs, walking sticks, crutches etc.

There is hardly a shop or office in town that is easily accessible because they have steps, never a slope; there are pavements with no way off them; and even the new recreation park is difficult on one side as it is all steps, with no access for the disabled.

I always thought there were by-laws for assisting disabled people, or am I wrong? If the council would like my help in pinpointing the many black spots, please give me a call – although I won’t hold my breath waiting.
