The Men’s Shed has made an impressively sturdy milk cart from recycled wood as a prop for Kingsbridge Amateur Dramatic Society’s upcoming production of Fiddler on the Roof.

KATS is delighted to have discovered such a talented group, who are already making their mark around town with planters for Kingsbridge in Bloom, a new counter for Kingsbridge Information Centre and projects with Age Concern and Kingsbridge Library.

The Men’s Shed is a national movement which encourages men who enjoy working with their hands to get together on a regular basis to make things and socialise. The new local branch, affiliated to Age UKDevon, is still looking for premises so currently have use each other’s sheds and garages.

A workshop in the Kingsbridge area would be an ideal solution, particularly as there are 40 more people who would like to be involved but can’t join the group due to lack of space.

Any offers of suitable accommodation or further information about the group can be obtained from their chairman Craig Franklin on 07779 153747.

KATS has also been lucky enough to borrow props from the Cookworthy Museum while it’s shut for the winter and these include large milk churns to go on the cart. The Museum re-opens on March 26, coinciding perfectly with the musical’s run at Malborough Village Hall from March 20 to 24.

Tickets for Fiddler on the Roof can be bought at Kingsbridge Information Centre in person or over the phone on 01548 853195 using a debit or credit card.
