A man is due to appear in court charged with offences in connection with the death of a woman in Plymouth in December 2022.

Melanie Jordan, 37, died at Derriford Hospital at 8.52pm on December 19, 2022, after being found unresponsive at a property in the Whitleigh area days earlier.

Jamie Jordan, 35, of Primrose Close, Ivybridge, who was Ms Jordan’s partner, has been issued with a postal requisition to appear in court in relation to alleged offences of manslaughter and controlling or coercive behaviour.

At the opening of Ms Jordan’s inquest in January 2023, coroner Ian Arrow said police had been called to her address following “an unrelated incident”, where they found her unresponsive.

Jordan, who was not married to Ms Jordan, is to appear at Plymouth Magistrates’ Court on November 11.
