A local builder and South Hams Councillor has stepped forward and helped put up the bunting for Kingsbridge Fair Week.
The bunting, which is a mainstay of Fair Week, has been delayed in being erected around the town this year. This is due to the volunteers usually put it up being unable the town council's requirements.
Among those volunteers have traditionally been some of Kingsbridge Fire Station's retained crew, however, the fire service itself was not involved this year or in previous years. We are happy to make this clear, after an earlier version of this story gave the impression the fire service was. There were also concerns the bunting could not be put up with a just few people and a ladder; the heights are too dangerous to allow anyone to just 'have a go' at putting it up, and the task needed someone with the right skills and equipment to be able to do it.
Step forward Cllr Keith Wingate, Keith Wingate Building Ltd, who, along with his team, erected the bunting on Tuesday.
Thank you Keith!
